So, just fyi, I have made 15 dollars, doing three different cases, that took me all of five minutes to read. :) You get paid by paypal. Its a great way to make some extra cash.

Temp Agencies

Look online for your local temporary employment agencies. I applied on http://www.kellyservices.com/ it only takes a few minutes if you have your resume already to go. Under career search, choose the from home/telecommute option. They only had 7 listings, but every opening is worth a try. You never know if you might be the lucky one for today.

What other places have you thought of, for home based work?

Considering the price of gas, I find this is going to become the next big thing.

Finally a job lead email from the actual employer~!

International Business Solutions, based from New Jersey, sent me a request for a Medical Coding position. Its a temporary position, but full time telecommuting. So, work from home. I am relieved to actually have heard from someone, that doesn't seem to be just a chain email that leads to you paying out money. Which, by the way you should never do. So, wish me luck. I am sure there are thousands of people applying, and I am not a certified coder, but have over ten years of experience. Usually, if you can obtain the position, they allow you (employers) to have up to one year to get your certification. Normally, the job is well worth it, as coders normally get paid a good wage.

New Ventures

I am curious to know, what ideas you have regarding change of career, to work from home? What made you make that decision? What route did you take to get there?

I am loving www.flexjobs.com so far. Although it is a fee of 14.95 a month, (I only plan to use it for a month) they email you the positions best suited for you and your work history.

You are able to post more than one profile and resume, so you can make multiple job searches in different areas of work. You can also choose only telecommuting jobs, and it takes you to the external job posting. Flexjobs tracks your job applications, and you can also do skills tests that potential employers can see.

Today I applied to Kaplan University, through their website, for a part time at home position of Student Advisor. Its only 20 hours a week, but its something. You help potential and current students sign up for the University, and help them with financial aid, and registration processes.

I also applied for a full time data entry job through Steeprock. They are a pharmecutical and biomedical research company. Requirements were only the ability to type 40 wpm, 10 key, and you need DSL and other office equipment in your home. I love the fact my education for prenursing assists me with this position, as medical terminology and pharmacology helps me understand this company. Its always a plus, to know more about the company you may work for in the future.


Well, those are two of the positions I have applied for today. More information and updates to come, as I keep up this search to save gas, the earth, and spend more time with my son. There are so many benefits to working from home. It just takes alot of hours to get these positions. Research, research, and more research.

Let me start with, don't pay for a company to post your resume. There are plenty of free ones out there, that are completely reputable. www.indeed.com, yahoo.com, monster, and worksource of Washington are all free.

I looked into MomCorps, which has an office based in Seattle, but its over two hundred dollars to access all of their offerings. Um, hello? If I had extra money such as that, I would not need the help of finding a job.

I did register with Flexjobs.com so that I could see if I could really find a work from home job. They list nationwide listings of employment in every area imaginable. Most of the positions, even though primarily work from home, you must live on the East Coast. Its 14.95 a month, but they offer a money back gaurantee. However, they also track if you really have been applying for the position that are listed. I have applied through them, for a couple positions, including Medical Coding, and Customer Service Representatives.We will see how that turns out. I plan to only use them for this month only, to avoid another months fee.

One thing I have to say, is that these opportunities exist, it is hard work, as looking for any job is. They have just as many if not more applicants to screen through as regular jobs. Persistance, and spiffing up your resume, and more persistence is necessary to find what you are looking for.

I believe I will, it just seems like there aren't enough hours in a day, but then again, I need to put aside some hours after my son goes to bed, to really get on track.

Medical Coding and Transcription from Home

If you have your degree or certification in Medical Coding or Transcription here is a few sites that are legimate, and offer Virtual Work from Home.

Precyse Solutions http://www.precysesolutions.com/ offers training, benefits, and they also provide all equipment needed to work from home. You pay no fee to work for them. They specialize in Oncology.

Requirements are 1 year experience in an acute care setting. Also, certification in your field.


Production Transcripts http://www.productiontranscripts.com/ provides training to you at no cost, benefits, and no fees to apply. However, you are required to have digital transcription experience or you will not be considered.

Medquist http://www.medquist.com/ offers medical benefits, time off, virtual office, a 500 dollar sign on bonus. You must be certified in your area of expertice CPC, CPC-P, RHIT etc to be considered.

If you complete online coding and billing certification going through the AAPC is the best price, but you must be dedicated to work on your own. It is a online program. It costs between 1500 and 3000 for the courses. Compared to Community Colleges which is going to run you with loans 20, 000 for a two year program. However, with the community college, you can go on to recieve your RHIT degree.

Craigslist

If you can weed out the scammers, such the emails that sound so weird, or from email to email change, then its okay.

And, if people show up. Personally, I would rather meet people than give random strangers my address.

So far for February I made over 180 just selling stuff out of my house. Clothes, toys, knick knacks, whatever we don't "need" or doesn't fit anymore.

Its worth a try, and if your in a small town, try the next town closer, or your local paper, or partyline type paper. Everyone is looking for a deal now days.

Today, I am looking into grant writing. I love writing, I love paperwork for some reason. And you can do this from home.
Well, off to my day job, and traffic, and wishes to soon not have that commute. Happy Day and job searching everyone!

Hmmph.

So, this is how it is going. I haven't heard from any of the ones I have tried. However, I have made about 200 from selling stuff on craigslist.

Now, I am working on opening an online thrift/consignment store, and hope to have a actual shop later this summer. We will see how this goes. I usually consider myself computer smart, when it comes to work computers anyway. Website building not so much. I am working with VistaPrint.

So I will keep ya posted! Hoping for progress!

Here are links to online jury duties. I signed up for all of them, so we will see how that goes. They pay from 10 dollars to 60 dollars depending on the length of the trial.

Although these options won't allow you to pay your monthly bills, it is a opportunity to make some extra money. Most cases take 30 minutes to a couple hours of your time. Instead of playing on Facebook, or some other social network, you could be doing something interesting and be able to make some extra money on the side.

is a legitimate work site that takes about 30 minutes to register. I am awaiting how long it will take for them to call me or email me to let me know the results. They offer data entry and call center positions, flexible 24 hour shifts, and full or part time hours.

The Process Begins!!

After hours of researching, I am prepared to apply, review, and blog to you my experiences trying to find legitimate work I can do from home, to be there more for my son. I am a single mom, who since moving to the city, spend ten hours less a week, due to commute time. I only live ten miles from work.
